Methadone
Methadone is an opiate. It is synthetically made as a painkiller designed to depress the nervous system. Plus it is a sedative. It reduces physical pain in the same way as most other painkillers, and slows down the the functioning of the body, and reduces physical and psychological pain. Also it comes as a green liquid or white tablet.
It is commonly used to help Heroin addicts detox from Heroin, and is administered to Heroin addicts to avoid acute withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is administered to Heroin addicts instead of Heroin. The detox process is done by reducing the amount of Methadone the addict is having over a period of days. Normally around 14 days depending on the amount of Methadone the addict was on, on the day they came into for their detox. This will be administered until they are completely free of Methadone.
It is milder than Heroin in respect it does not give the user such a high or a buzz as Heroin. Heroin addicts will always tell you Methadone is a hard drug to get off. Much harder than Heroin. They will also say it get right into your bones. It is an awful drug.
Pt is used for detoxing by doctors, as the doctors will know exactly how much they are administering, unlike Heroin which is cut (mixed with other substances) hence no one knows the real strength. It can comes in a liquid or tablet form, so much easier to administer to the addict.
